Kevin Millsip is a Canadian luminary for developing leadership skills in our future citizens, and has been prolific at helping to found and establish many important and diverse non-profit organizations addressing many aspects of national and global injustice.
He is the co-founder and Director of Next Up, a national programme for young people committed to social and environmental justice. Started in 2007 in Vancouver, Next Up has programs in six cities across five provinces, and a strong vision for the future.
Kevin has 18 years of experience working with social and environmental justice organizations as a facilitator and leadership trainer, and is currently a Dialogue Associate with SFU’s Centre for Dialogue and serves on several board’s advisory councils including: Upstream, The Centre for Civic Governance, The Small Change Fund and Theatre for Living and is the board chair of The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives' BC Office.
In 1998 Kevin co-founded Check Your Head, an organization that's worked with more than 40,000 young people to get involved in social justice issues, and was their executive director for 11 years. He also co-founded Get Your Vote On, a campaign that's registered more than 20,000 new voters in BC, and has served as a Vancouver school board trustee with a focus on youth engagement and sustainability.
Several years ago This Magazine credited Kevin as working with a "inclusive humanity that effectively welcomes and encourages new activists, and respects unity and partnerships".
